CoCo's recovery...POTP needed.

Hi everyone.  Pack mom here.  Our oldest girl, CoCo Bean, is sick and needs some Power of The Paw!

CoCo has tested positive for heartworms.

Now I know a lot of you are thinking she should have been on preventative...and you are correct.  And this is a guilt that I have to live with...From March 2013 thru June of 2015, we were on the verge of being homeless.  It is only through our GoFundMe account, with the generosity of friends, strangers and the grace of God, that we never lost our home.  However, it also had our funds so limited that we literally had no money to buy preventative.  Since finding employment last June, I've been working to get each of the girls tested and on medications.  Reesie has been on medication since last year and we also had Mya tested.  Both girls are negative.  However, our almost 12 year old girl was not.

I cannot do anything but provide her with the best care now.  After talking with the vet, and due to CoCo's age, she will begin a "slow kill" method later this week.  She will also have supplements for heart and lung strength as well as for her liver.  She be on antibiotics as well.

We are asking for your positive thoughts and prayers for CoCo.  She is a treasure to me...I've had her since she was 6 weeks old.  And her health is overall good.  Of course she is slowing down, but I believe she has many good years of love left!  I will do whatever is within my power for her.

Today, we had a bit of snow.  So I let her outside to have some fun...once she begins her treatment she will not be able to have much fun, but will have to be kept quiet.  We have a crate already set up for her!  She has a couple of squeaky "babies" in there and should do fine.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions, please let me know.  I've never dealt with this issue, so I'm needing as much education as possible!

Here is Reesie, who also had some fun in the "snow"...LOL.  Living in Georgia, we don't get a lot of the white stuff.  This small amount closed all the schools!

So, again...Please keep CoCo in your thoughts and prayers...and I'm willing to listen to any and all suggestions!

Thank you all for being such a great community of support!

Sherri, Pack Mom
